Smiles are Magickal ♥ remember to share them around and give them away ♥ By doing this you will light up someone’s day ♥

What Inspired me to write this article today ~

Last week one of my beautiful sisters was thought to have had a mini stroke…

Her husband went for a walk with Charley Girl their Black labby… when he came back my Sister was acting odd, he said. But then I realised that this was not a game there was something wrong! Her short term memory had gone and she was talking in the past…

My brother in Law rang her Eldest daughter who then rang me. He wanted to take her to the hospital and of course she was refusing and didn’t understand why he was trying to get her into the car~ Buy the way My sister is very stubborn and does not like hospitals. You can imagine how difficult this situation was becoming.

After a couple of phone calls from my niece and I trying to encourage My brother in Law to call an ambulance and speaking to my sister there was no advance. The problem was, was that they live in the blue mountains, her daughters live in Sydney I am in the Hunter Valley and their closest friends were away. To cut a long story short … the hardest part of it was that we couldn’t be there as soon as we would like. My niece rang an ambulance and then drove to Katoomba hospital. My other niece was trying to get away from work and couldn’t because there was no one else to cover her. We are many and spread about. We have one brother and 3 sisters in New Zealand another sister in Sydney. So much was happening phone calls and emails to keep every one in touch and up to date with what was going on. It was frightening for all of us as our Parents have passed away… Mum nearly 4 years ago and dad 6 years ago.

Sometimes we are distant in our communications and caught up in our own lives… we get together every couple of months and have a family gathering and through FB, emails and phone calls we do most of our communicating.

What I am I going on about?

I am proud of my family and love them all so much! When the chips are down and something like this happens we all band together like a raging fire that no one can stop.

So my Lovely’s I am sending love, hugs ‘n’ kisses to my family and friends because I know how blessed I am.

In no particular order I thank Di, Caz, Pete, Rae, Sal, Jo, Li, Vix, all of my beautiful nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, my friends and especially my loving Amez xxx

P.S. My lovely sis is fine and it turned out to be a reaction from another condition, which is now under control.

Aromatherapy for Grace~ A beautiful state to be in~

For Me when I think about this I immediately think of essential oils I can attune to for being in a State of Grace!

Pink Lotus, Champa, Jasmine, Neroli, Rose, Frankincense ~ within these oils I find courage strength, wisdom, transition, acceptance, unity, peace and love ~

Aromatherapy and essential oils are a beautiful way to attune to yourself, meditate and transform for self growth. I cannot express enough how much these Beauties from Nature have supported and enhanced every aspect of my life bringing courage, self love and the love of all.

I encourage you all to embrace the Magick of Aromatherapy ~ use essential oils in your everyday lives to support you on your journey to ‘Being in a State of Grace’

Simple ways to use your oils ~ Create your sacred space, inhale deeply, feeling the Aroma flow through every cell of your being. Stay with this for as long as you feel comfortable, Bathing is very self nurturing, diffusing your oils can be done at anytime even if are are moving around at home from room to room. If you are on the run take your Aroma inhaler so that it is available to you at any time…

Grace means more than gifts. In grace something is transcended, once and for all overcome. Grace happens in spite of something; it happens in spite of separateness and alienation. Grace means that life is once again united with life, self is reconciled with self. Grace means accepting the abandoned one. Grace transforms fate into a meaningful vocation. It transforms guilt to trust and courage. The word grace has something triumphant in it.

Here are The...

Thought I would give you some tid bits from my Ebook, which is coming along nicely…

Here are The Elements and some recommended their essential oil associations-

Air- frankincense, violet, myrrh yarrow

Fire- black pepper, orange, ginger, basil

Water- jasmine, chamomile, lemon, sandalwood

Earth- victoria, cedarwood, geranium, rosewood

Remember that I often relate associations to my own thoughts, feelings and experiences…

When we are working with the elements we can use our Astrological birth charts to see what we may lack in or have more of… for example in my chart I only have one earth element… now I have always been attracted to very earthy essential oils and realised that my home is very earthy, this is because I need to be grounded and I do tend to be a bit out there at times ( Big Smiles) … this all fell in to place when I was studying astrology… I can now work with astrology and aromatherapy to bring balance into my personal life, my environment and my spiritual being.

We can also create signature blends to bring in balance on levels. I am predominant in air and water which I now understand how to work with to create the balance that I personally desire…

Love and Pleasure Always

xxx

You can easily make a cleaning spray using essential oils and water.

for bench tops, toilet and bathroom areas, tiled floors and walls, sinks etc. Try this blend

Lemon Eucalyptus, lemon tea tree and sweet orange

or

Myrtle, eucalyptus, pine

or

sweet orange, lemon, cypress

These essential oils are anti-septic, anti-bacterial, disinfectant and smell great. You can add a teaspoon of white vinegar to act as a dispersant for the essential oils. This blend can be sprayed on to the surfaces recommended as an anti-septic.

Rosewood, geranium, lemon and grapefruit as an anti-septic aerial spray. Add to water, give it a shake and spray away. Be careful not to spray onto the face area.

You can also add these to a mixture of bi-carb of soda and white vinegar.

Mix enough white vinegar and bi-carb to make a paste and simply add 5 drops each of the recommended essential oils.

I do not store this , I mix and use on baths, kitchen bench tops, oven and more.

Avoid wooden surfaces, and wear gloves when using these products.

I have decided to re-post this article as we are still in the Midst of Winter ~here we will take a look at some essential oils you can use through various methods of applications. Yes here I go again, if in doubt do not use or consult with a qualified Aromatherapist! Always research the contra-indications so you will know when NOT to use them.

When using essentials oils to help reduce the risk of catching a cold I highly recommend a diffuser, they are not cheap however they are very effective. You simply place neat essential oils (10-20 drops) in and turn them on for about 15 mins every 3 hours or so. Research has found that the essential oil molecules stay floating in the air for up to 4 hours. (use 3-5 oils in a blend)

Inhalations either dry or steam are very effective for clearing congestion in your sinus cavities, reducing inflammation and headaches, lowering temperature and boosting your immune.

foot baths are used for headaches, reducing tired aching muscles.

Full body baths for aching body from flu and cold symptoms, relaxing, lowering and raising body temperature, boosting the immune. oils to use in the diffuser, citrus are excellent anti-septic, rosemary, basil, sandalwood, myrtle, eucalyptus, tea tree, ravensara, lavender, peppermint, juniper, cypress, fragonia, rosewood. they are all good Bug Busters!

When using essential oils for treating many conditions it is a good idea to use them firstly as a preventative treatment, this way we can stop , slow down or reduce the symptoms.

Sore throats

Myrrh, tea tree, eucalyptus, peppermint

or

Ravensara, red myrtle, tea tree and sandalwood, 20 drops of each in 50 ml of vegetable oil. Apply 3-4 times a day.

Chest cold (congestion)

Thyme, peppermint, myrtle and ravensara

or

eucalyptus smithii *( more calming than E.globulus or radiata), tea tree, thyme and frankincense

or

red myrtle, thyme, sandalwood and fragonia

for the above recommendations use 20 drops of each in 100 ml of vegetable oil, apply over chest and back areas 3 times a day.

Tired aching muscles from cold or flu

Here you can have nice warm bath fill four bath to desired height and temperature add essential oils and agitate before stepping in. !0 -15 minutes maximum for this recommendation, the oils will aid in relaxation

German chamomile, frankincense and clary sage 3-4 drops of each-( for an adult)

Lavender, sweet Marjoram and cypress 3-4 drops of each -(for an adult)

* Eucalyptus globulus and radiata should not be used on someone with chronic recuring lung infections, they can over stimulate the bronchi and have an adverse effect.

http://www.aromatiqueessentials.com.au

The most common symptoms are pain in the muscles, ligaments, and tendons, the soft fibrous tissues of the body. Although the muscles hurt everywhere, they are not the only cause of the pain. The whole body is affected and symptoms are greatly magnified by malfunctions in the way the nervous system processes pain. Chronic pain, for some people can be very debilitating and they cannot work or leave the home, disturbed sleep, insomnia, too much sleep, fatigue, lack of focus and concentration, headaches and /or migraines, jaw pain, IBS- irritable bowel syndrome are also commonly experienced. Symptoms can wax and wane from to day to day and throughout the day. There are many support sights on the internet that can give you more detailed information. My focus will be Aromatherapy as a treatment.

How Aromatherapy can benefit those that have fibromyalgia

I would like to share with you my experiences and the essential oils that I have personally used to reduce symptoms of fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue as they can go hand in hand.

These recommendations are for those that have been correctly diagnosed by their GP or specialist through the appropriate methods.

Here I will give symptoms and then recommendations for essential oils and methods of application. It is important to understand that whilst I give you this information that we are individuals and what works for one person may not necessarily work for all. This does not mean don’t try, more that it would be preferable for you to seek out a fully qualified Aromatherapist, who then may be able to personalise your treatments as that is one of the amazing gifts of Aromatherapy.

Many essential oils are analgesics, therefore they can reduce pain. Following are ones that I have used. These oils are also very good for reducing inflammation.

Basil, rosemary, ginger, lavender, chamomile, black pepper, clary sage, peppermint, cypress, juniper, sweet marjoram.

These essential oils can be used for Muscular aches, pain, stiffness and hypersensitivity. I highly recommend that you use Aromatherapy and essential oils as a preventative treatment rather than waiting until you are in pain. Using them on a daily basis, and intermittently changing the oils will result in a more positive outcome, as I believe your body then does not have the opportunity to build a resistance to the chosen essential oils.

Fatigue

Oils that are known to be energising and invigorating

Grapefruit, juniper, cypress, petitgrain, black pepper, peppermint, basil, lemon tea tree, lemon Eucalyptus

Insomnia or disturbed sleep

Vetiver, lemon, mandarin, sweet orange, bergamot, lime, sandalwood, jasmine, rose, neroli, ylang ylang, cedarwood , clary sage, rosewood, patchouli, spikenard, rhu khus, lavender.

Memory and concentration

Basil, peppermint, rosemary, lemon, spearmint, black pepper, ginger, cypress.

Depression, anxiety, stress and tension

Most essentials are excellent for these symptoms, once again I recommend the aromas you are attracted to and prefer the smell as this kind of response will immediately uplift your emotions.

I f you do experience these symptoms is essential that you seek professional advice!

Treatments

Aromatherapy massage is a very nurturing massage which promotes lymph and blood circulation, boosts the immune system, is balancing to the nervous system, promotes relaxation; reduce muscle tension, pain, stress and anxiety.

Usually recommended as a gentle massage however I personally prefer a very firm massage as do many people, it really is a personal choice and essential that you discuss this with your therapist before the treatment has commenced.

Depending on how chronic and severe your symptoms are will play a role in the initial results, like many orthodox treatments Aromatherapy is not a quick fix. Every person is an individual the results will vary from person to person. The choice of essentials oils can vary quite dramatically. Because of this Aromatherapy and essential oils can be tailored to suit your specific needs and this is truly a wonderful thing to be able to have these options.

If it is possible initially it would be advisable to have weekly treatments, then fortnightly and then monthly. This may not always be possible for a number of reasons. Do what you can and try some different methods of application at home between massages.

Some ways that you can self treat-

Bathing a luxury for many of us and you may not even have a bath, so ask a friend or family if you can use theirs. Bathing is a wonderful way of treating many different conditions and many different conditions have the same or similar symptoms.

Muscular aches and pains, aching joints, stiffness, stress, tension, depression, insomnia.

When choosing to use a bathing method, you do not need any more than 10 drops of essential oil in total draw your bath, add the chosen essential oils and agitate before you hop in. A 10 -15 min soak is all you need. I love t have either essential oils in the burner or incense burning with soft relaxing music in the background. Be sure to use an alarm clock if you have a tendency to fall as sleep!

Foot baths are another wonderful, easy alternative and only take 10 minutes. If you need to give yourself a kick start in the morning or really anytime I love using grapefruit. Try this when having a shower another easy application for example: before hoping into the shower grab a face cloth wet it down and add a few drops of grapefruit essential oil. When you get into the shower place your face clothe down on the floor of the shower and start to stomp on it, you will have absorbtion occurring through the souls of your feet and also by breathing as the molecules are taken up by the steam from the hot water. It leaves me feeling quite invigorated; grape fruit is excellent for strengthening the immune system!

Bath blends for relation

4 drops neroli, 4 drops bergamot, 2 drops geranium

3 drops vetiver, 4 drops rosewood, 2 drops sweet orange

Bath blend for aching body, also relaxing

3 drops clary sage, 3 drops lavender, 4 drops chamomile, 3 drops sweet marjoram

3 drops Cypress, 2 drops basil, 2 drops rosemary

Topical application of your favourite oils will uplift your emotions and from another perspective will nourish and moisturise your skin! Depending on your personal preference you can use a vegetable oil, coconut oil, cream or lotion. To blend you can use 50 ml of your chosen carrier/base and 25 drops in total of your chosen essential oils.

Below are 2 day time blends and 2 night time blends.

Daytime

10 drops grapefruit, 5 drops petitgrain, 5 drops geranium and 5 drops lemon

10 drops neroli, 5 drops rosewood, 5 drops patchouli or sandalwood

Night time

5 drops vetiver, 7 drops rosewood, 3 drops mandarin

5 drops rose, 5 drops jasmine, 5 drops frankincense

Using a burner or diffuser I recommend using the same oils for the specific conditions.

e.g. sleepy time blend- vetiver, rosewood and geranium.

Focus and concentration- spearmint, rosemary and basil.

Chronic Fatigue

Here is a small article I posted on my blog, just a few weeks ago. Although I know some of you have read it I thought it worthwhile adding to this article.

Aromatherapy is considered to be one of the most consistently successful therapies for treating chronic fatigue syndrome.

Other holistic treatments to consider are nutrition, vitamins and herbs recommended by a qualified Naturopath, and daily exercise for example walking.

Here are some oils that I have used to help reduce some symptoms of chronic fatigue

These can be used safely with a variety of applications which I will give a bit later on. If you are unsure seek the advice of a practising Aromatherapist and research the essential oils and their contra-indications.

To reduce stress – Lemon, sweet orange, geranium, neroli, jasmine, mandarin, bergamot, ylang ylang, I recommend any aroma that you like as it will uplift your emotions and aid in de-stressing.

Muscular aches and pains – Rosemary, peppermint, clary sage, german chamomile, lavender, cypress, juniper, basil, and marjoram.

To help to increase your energy levels – Grapefruit, juniper, cypress, peppermint, rosemary, basil.

Depression – I always recommend that you inhale your preferred aromas, it is also important not to overuse essential oils that are strong sedatives like sweet Marjoram, clary sage, sandalwood, valerian and vetiver.

Most essential oils are very good for depression and boosting the immune System. All citrus, geranium, neroli, rose, chamomile, patchouli, frankincense, ylang ylang, basil, peppermint, lemon myrtle.

Insomnia can be a cause of chronic fatigue, oils that can aid in relaxation and sleep – Vetiver, sandalwood, clary sage, lavender, lemon, bergamot, rose, neroli, jasmine, rhu khus, cedarwood, and chamomile.

Suggested Blends

Raising energy levels – grapefruit, basil, peppermint or rosemary, juniper, spearmint, use as an inhalation.

Immuno-stimulent – rosemary, peppermint, cypress, lemon myrtle or lemon, juniper, lavender, lemon tea tree, daily application as a dressing oil or friction rub (once a week) on your back focusing on the spinal cord.

Insomnia – vetiver, rosewood, sweet orange or rose, geranium, lemon via inhalation, full body or foot bath, diffuser or anoint the souls of your feet.

Muscle pain – clary sage, basil, peppermint or rosemary, sweet marjoram, lavender topical application.

Other Natural therapy treatments to consider are Acupuncture, gentle exercise on a daily basis e.g. walking, therapeutic massage, relaxation techniques, gentle stretching, good nutrition, herbs and vitamins.

When it comes to essential oils and stress relief, all are potentially beneficial through various methods of application. I think it is important to consider your smell preference as when we inhale an aroma that we love it will immediately have a positive effect on us. You may experience immediate relief from stress and tension, feel relaxed or energised, emotionally uplifted and calm. They will strengthen your immune system which is often depleted when one is stressed.

Some symptoms of stress can be feeling agitated and annoyed at the simplest or smallest of things. Some may feel teary, angry or impatient. Other symptoms can be broken sleep or feeling tired all the time.

There are many causes of stress – financial or relationship problems, family, work, pressure from many different sources. Here I will offer some recommendations keeping in mind that there are some very common essential oils that are used by Aromatherapists and that each individual may respond differently.

Essential oils to reduce stress

Bergamot, black pepper, cardamom, chamomiles, cedarwood, clary sage, cypress, eucalyptus lemon, frankincense, geranium, ginger, grapefruit, jasmine, juniper, lavender, lemon, lemon myrtle, mandarin, neroli, orange sweet, patchouli, peppermint, rose, rosemary, rosewood, sandalwood, tea tree lemon, violet leaf, ylang ylang.

I personally recommend and find direct inhalations, using spritzers and bathing the most effective way to use Aromatherapy for stress, anxiety, tension and depression. Using burners or diffusers can be used to enhance the desired effect.

Here are some examples of blends to use for reducing stress and associated symptoms along with a suitable application method.

Bathing

Frankincense, rosewood 4 drops of each is calming and brings peace.

Neroli 5 drops, 2-3 drops sandalwood, 2drops clary sage a great relaxing blend.

Bergamot 4 drops, 3 drops vetiver, 3 drops sweet orange very calming, happy blend.

Geranium 4 drops, patchouli 2-3 drops, 1-2 drops ylang ylang, balancing and uplifting.

Inhalations

These can be done by placing a few drops of your desired essential oil on to a tissue or hankie inhaling as you need.

Using a disposable inhaler is a very efficient way of doing dry inhalations; otherwise steam inhalations can be used.

Some essential oils I like to use

Cardamom, lemon myrtle, sweet orange, Peru balsam are uplifting, happy oils promoting a sense of lightness of being.

Peppermint, lavender, vetiver, chamomile calm a racing mind

Bergamot, mandarin, grapefruit uplifting to the emotions

Room Sprays

Sprays are fabulous and easy for using on a daily basis and you can carry them with you where ever you go.

I recommend you use a coloured or opaque glass bottle 50-100ml are good sizes.

Place purified water in the bottle, around half way, then you add your chosen essential oils. Some aromatherapists prefer to use a disper; however I don’t like to add anything but water. I give the bottle a gentle shake before each use.

Suggested blends

Geranium 5 drops, sweet orange, 5 drops, bergamot 10 drops, sandalwood 3 drops

Lemon 5 drops, grapefruit 10 drops, cardamom 5drops, 3 drops rosewood

Rose 5 drops, neroli, 5 drops, champa 3 drops, 2 drops cinnamon

Enjoy and bring a smile into your day!

Because essential oils have a small molecular weight they are readily absorbed through the skin. Essential oils can be added to good natural base products to create your own Aromatique scents, bath salts or oils, room sprays and more…

Properties of the essential oils that are beneficial to our skin are as follows…

They are anti-septic, stimulate cell growth and wound healing, improve circulation and muscle tone, aid in reducing inflammation, improve the integrety of your skin and regulate sebum production.

To gain the most benefit from your skin care it is important to look for high quality ingredients.

Have the most suitable ingredients been selected to suit your specific needs?

The environment in which they are kept is important, store in a cupboard or draw away from direct sunlight, with an even temperature is best.

The correct dilutions and synergy or combinations of essential oils is very important so that they do not work against each other.
